Linux Ransomware
Im reading articles from my rss feeds today. I came across this article about Linux Encoder (article was on ZDNET): http://www.zdnet.com/article/linux-ransomware-rising-linux-encoder-1-now-infects-thousands-of-websites .
This has the potential to be nasty and very dangerous out on the web. WordPress seems to be a different jumping point for the malware and WordPress will probably never be able to close enough holes to stop the malware if the creators keep morphing the malware.
The last paragraph of the article states:
"And as Dr Web rightly points out,
while this version of the ransomware contains
flaws that make it easy to resolve,
the criminals behind it may fix those issues in future,
making it ultimately a more serious threat."
I would imagine that these wholes wont be in the future versions of the malware.
This assume this is going to put a major hurt on the web as we know it today. Site administrators are going to be updating Wordpress and other CMS software as fast as they can and hopefully they back up and back up often.
